From the Lose Friends series, here is what Jonar Nader has written about: CORPORATE GREED
Corporate greed is human greed. Let us not suggest that a corporation is a monster that is not human. We fight corporations as if they were a species unto themselves. Anyone who owns shares in a company is part of the corporate battlefield. I believe that the day will come when directors and senior executives will be held accountable. I am not suggesting that the majority of directors act fraudulently. The premeditated crooks are few and far between, but the run-of-the-mill corporation can acquire goods and services, manipulate the share prices, and then tell the creditors to ‘go jump’. Although this is called ‘acting within the law’, this type of behaviour (including voluntary liquidation or Chapter 11) might soon be outlawed. In a corporation’s lifetime (and these are getting shorter on purpose), the majority shareholders can trade their shares daily. They do not see the corporation as a vehicle through which to make profits by delivering products and services. Rather, they use the shell of the organisation as an excuse to trade notional pieces of paper, knowing full well that the company is on its last legs.
