From the Lose Friends series, here is what Jonar Nader has written about: DANGERS OF SEEKING MARKET-SHARE
From what I have observed, many organisations want market-share because they are haemorrhaging, and they have lost touch with their customers. They cannot count on any loyalty whatsoever because they know that they have not delivered on their promises. So, they want to replenish their customer base as fast as possible to make up for the many dissatisfied customers. When they lose customers, they blame the competitor. They don’t stop for a minute to realise that their customers are fed up with them. If you promise one thing and deliver another, your market will not give you a moment’s rest. Focus on being true to your word, and your market will be kind to you.
Market ranking excites analysts and logisticians.
Market congruence excites customers. The new wisdom is, ‘Never mind market dominance. Set out to dominate the hearts and minds of your customers, one at a time.’
