Believe it or not, according to Jonar Nader, we are most likely to catch germs in our doctor’s waiting room!
Studies have shown that a GP’s waiting rooms are usually badly ventilated. Patients cough all over each other, and they spread their germs on those popular magazines that you find in every waiting room. The old habit of ‘licking the finger to turn the page’ is a big contributor to passing germs and contracting them. But the dirtiest and most germ ridden spot is the door handle. Everyone touches the same spot!
The next most dangerous place is the pub, particularly those complimentary peanuts or sweets presented in a communal bowl. People dip in with their dirty fingers and contaminate the snacks. The risk is multiplied by those few who do not wash their hands after going to the toilet.
Don’t worry too much though. Luckily, our immune system can handle it… most of the time!
Believe it… or not.
