Believe it or not, according to Jonar Nader, we will soon have an international standard for hype.
As you know, almost everything has an international standard. Weight, length even IQ. However, there are some things that are not easily agreed upon.
For example, if you received an offer to join a club, which would you think would be the better offer, the “premiere” club or the “deluxe” club?
In some countries, premiere is better than deluxe, but not in all. In some countries, Blue is better than Red (as in Blue Ribbon or the Red Carpet treatment).
Thanks to the Olympics, everyone understands the ranking of Gold, Silver, and Bronze. However, which is better, Diamond or Platinum? A Black Label, or a Blue Label? What of First Class versus Executive Class? Is satin better than silk? What is better than soft leather?
To solve this problem, a suggestion has been put forward to form an international standard so that all consumers, who sometimes complain of false advertising, can better understand such offers.
There is a running joke that condoms never come in a small size. They are available in regular, large, and extra large, but never small. This is designed to prevent some men from having to face the disappointing facts of life.
Other terms for review include Five-Star (as in five star service), and Tip-Top (as in tip top condition).
Adjectives will also be investigated, including the use of “the best” compared with “the very best”. An international survey will need to be conducted.
This study is expected to cost 3.7 million dollars and is being funded by the advertising industry association.
Believe it… or not.
