Thirty million scouts celebrated the Centenary of Scouting by agreeing to follow the sun around the world and hold a Sunrise Ceremony at 8:00 am local time in 161 countries. In Sydney, Jonar Nader was invited to deliver the keynote address, following the welcome presentation by Her Excellency the Governor and Chief Scout of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir. This photo shows the Governor leading the re-affirmation of the Scout-Promise which says, ‘On my honour, I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to my God, and to Australia, to help other people, and to live by the Scout Law.’
Jonar’s presentation, at the steps of the Sydney Opera House, focussed on why some people succeed, while others fail. This ten-minute audio file is a recording from the open-air presentation. The background noise includes several media helicopters and sea vessels which were covering this global event on television. A military jet can be heard saluting overhead.
