Why do doctors still use a red lamp outside their clinic? Although some now use the energy-efficient bulbs, I still feel that there could be a better way. Why not have a simple sign or some colour-coded board or box that could signify the same thing?
If the world has over one million doctors (some estimate 12 million), who each work eight hours per day, and if half of them burn a lamp like this one, then if each turns theirs off permanently, I estimate the the electricity saved would exceed what is saved during Earth Hour. Besides, are those lamps supposed to signify that the doctor is in the house? Or are they just a general signpost to let people know that the building houses a medical practitioner. Either way, I believe that a better method can be implemented.
